Start with understanding

Coffee equipment is expensive. Wrong decisions are more expensive.

Before choosing an espresso machine, grinder, beans or a large menu, it helps to understand the product you are planning to sell. This programme gives complete beginners a practical foundation so they can ask better questions and make more informed decisions.

Who it is for

Built for people at the beginning of the journey

✓ No barista experience required

What you will understand

Build a foundation before making bigger decisions

We focus on coffee knowledge that changes real business decisions, without trying to turn two days into a compressed professional barista course.

01

Understand coffee and flavour

Build a beginner-friendly understanding of coffee, freshness, processing, roasting and flavour.

02

See brewing in context

Understand the main variables behind brewing and why preparation changes what you taste.

03

Understand espresso basics

See how espresso, grinders and basic extraction work without promising professional barista competency.

04

Think before buying equipment

Connect machines, grinders, water and workflow to the type of business you are considering.

05

Make better sourcing and menu decisions

Understand the questions to ask when choosing coffee and planning a manageable starter menu.

06

Understand basic costing

Connect coffee dose, milk, consumables, waste and operating costs to what a beverage really costs.

Clear expectations

This is not a two-day professional barista certification.

The goal is to help you understand coffee, see how brewing and espresso work, and connect that knowledge to equipment, sourcing, menus, costing and your next steps.

Included

A practical small-batch learning experience

Practical coffee tasting

Compare coffees and learn how to notice what changes in the cup.

Brewing and espresso demonstrations

Connect basic theory to what actually happens during preparation.

Business decision exercises

Work through equipment, menu and costing decisions from a beginner's point of view.

Small-batch discussion

Bring your coffee-business idea and ask questions throughout the programme.

Why only four?

Enough room to ask, taste, try and understand.

A maximum of four participants gives us time for hands-on demonstrations, questions and discussion around the kind of coffee business you are considering.
